The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), Kano State Branch, has trained personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on emergency response and rescue operations to strengthen their capacity for lifesaving interventions.
Speaking during the training in Kano on Thursday, the Executive Secretary of the NRCS in the state, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, said the exercise was aimed at enhancing participants’ knowledge and practical skills in emergency response, rescue operations and first aid services.
He emphasised the importance of Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid training, noting that FRSC personnel are often among the first responders at accident and emergency scenes.
According to him, the Red Cross remains committed to supporting organisations involved in humanitarian and emergency response services through capacity-building initiatives.
“The training is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills to respond effectively to emergencies and save lives,” he said.
Also speaking, the FRSC Sector Commander in Kano State, Idris Lawan, commended the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its continued partnership and support to the corps.
He urged participants to actively engage in the sessions by paying close attention and seeking clarification where necessary in order to maximise the benefits of the training.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that participants received training on safety and security, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), management of bone and joint injuries, casualty prioritisation (triage), and manual handling techniques, among other emergency response procedures.
