The North West Zonal Deputy Coordinator for Agro-Allied Commodities Mobilisation of the Presidential Campaign Council and Kano South Deputy Coordinator of Arewa4Asiwaju, Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya, has said the Tinubu administration has stabilised a challenging economy, restored investor confidence and laid a solid foundation for national rebuilding.
Hon. Gaya, a former two-term member of the House of Representatives for Ajingi/Albasu/Gaya Federal Constituency, stated this at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna. He said the rally demonstrates the unity of APC stakeholders nationwide and their collective resolve that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027.
“The administration took bold and difficult decisions to save our economy from collapse. Today, we are seeing the results improved federal allocations to states, growing foreign reserves and massive infrastructure renewal across the country. Continuity is key,” he said.
He dismissed claims that the North West has been neglected, describing them as unsubstantiated. According to him, President Tinubu has not abandoned the zone but has made it the centrepiece of his transformation agenda.
“What we are witnessing under this administration is unprecedented,” he stated.
Gaya noted that the North West leads other geopolitical zones in Federal Executive Council (FEC) approvals, with projects worth N5.97 trillion, representing over 40% of all national projects.
He listed the projects to include the 1,068km Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, the 375km Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Expressway, where a section was recently commissioned, and the Kano-Kaduna-Katsina-Maradi standard gauge railway.
The former lawmaker also described the administration’s agricultural drive as the most ambitious since independence, noting that the declaration of a state of emergency on food security under the Renewed Hope Agenda was a timely intervention for farming communities.
“This is not just a policy statement; it is a practical revolution that our farmers in the North are feeling on their farms,” he said.
He added that through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the government has activated the National Strategic Grain Reserve in several northern states to ensure food security and price stability, and introduced the Nigeria Postharvest Systems Transformation Programme (NiPHaST) to tackle post-harvest losses.
“For years, our farmers lost over 40% of their harvest due to lack of storage and processing. NiPHaST is changing that narrative by strengthening storage and supply chains from the community level upwards,” he said.
Hon. Gaya reaffirmed his commitment to mobilising grassroots support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
