Nafisat Charitable Foundation, in collaboration with Brotherhood and Better Living Foundation (BL Foundation), has visited the Dawakin Tofa Correctional Centre in Kano State as part of efforts to support vulnerable inmates and promote humanitarian values.
During the visit, the organisations donated foodstuffs, detergents and other essential items to inmates at the facility.
The foundations also secured the release on bail of a male inmate, while efforts are ongoing to process the bail of a female inmate.
As part of the humanitarian intervention, some inmates who had completed their sentences or had been detained over fines were also released, with the organisations urging them to become law-abiding citizens and apply the lessons learnt during their period of correction.
The organisations said the initiative was aimed at giving hope, restoring dignity and providing support to people facing difficult circumstances.
The gesture, according to the foundations, reflects their commitment to humanitarian service, compassion and community support.
The organisations further encouraged the beneficiaries to make positive contributions to society and avoid actions that could lead to their return to the correctional facility.
The foundations said they would continue to explore ways of supporting vulnerable people and contributing to the welfare of communities.
Together, the organisations said, society could give hope, restore dignity and make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable people.
