Two goals via Ademola Lukman, was all what Super Eagles needed to zoom to the quarter final stages of the on going 34th edition of AFCON being hosted by West African sister nation Ivory Coast.
The Eagles who had earlier netted a goal that was cancelled by the Morrocon referee, got the curtain raiser in the thirty six minutes of the fierce encounter through a goal mouth melee.
All efforts by the Lions to level scores in the first half proved abortive as a result of good defensive work of the Super Eagles defenders.
Thus when play resumed in the second half the two sides continued to pressurize each other but to no avail until the tail end of the cracker when Ademola Lukman increased the tally hence sent the Lions back to Yaounde sooner than they expected.
The Super Eagles who won the biennial competition thrice, will now test Angola for size to determine who scaled through to the semi finals.
The encounter with the Southern African team will be a pay back time for the Eagles as the Angolan if one could recalled were the ones that stopped Nigeria from playing in the World Cup hosted by South Africa way back in 2010.
Nigeria ‘s coach Jose Paseiro has earlier promised to bring back the giant trophy home for the fourth time.
