State Commissioner of Education Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa stated this when he received a team from Desert Sky Exploration on a courtesy visit i

Umar Haruna Doguwa explained that collaborating with organization would provide opportunity for the ministry to create an environment where students could directly participate on educational exploration beyond the classroom setting.

According to Doguwa, establishing astronomy clubs in schools would increase the knowledge of students on the contemporary reality of what is happening around the space.

” One good advantage of this programme is that it would allow the students to explore the beauty of the universe and motivate their minds towards learning new innovation on modern science. We are therefore going to give it the needed support and make sure that our students are fully engaged in to the programme ” he assured.

Doguwa declared that one of the most passionate thing with the administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf is coming out with policies and programmes that are geared towards promoting the education sector, pointing out that…. ” the government would not hesitate to work with any organization or individual that can render a helping hand in achieving the set goals “.

Haruna Doguwa maintained that the State Government would continue to meet with Private Organisations whose concerns are on education, to see how they can come in to complement it’s effort of uplifting the quality of education statewide .

He said ” I want to ask you to work with Science and Technical Schools Board and select some schools that would be used to commence this programme and see how successful it will become “.

The Commissioner further thanked the team for bringing the new Initiative to schools and assured them of the government support to achieve the needed results.

Earlier, the team leader who is equally the founder of Desert Sky Exploration Abdulkadir Nuhu Aminu said they were at the Commissioner’s office aimed atcollaborating with the ministry by engaging some of the modern Primary and Science Secondary Schools in creating new innovation on astronomy.

He explained that the organization had put in place new innovations to support the state education sector through clubs creation and using some of the latest technology to educate the kids on astronomy related content.

Some of the key components of the programme, according to Abdulkadir include Astronomy Clubs establishment, Hands-On activities and Workshop, Stargazing Events, Educational Resources and Teacher Training and Visual Tours.

In another development, the Commissioner had received Members of the Committee on 50th Anniversary of Government Girls College, Gezawa under the leadership of its Chairman Alhaji Garba Aliyu Gezawa

According to the Chairman, they were at the ministry to brief the Commissioner on the preparations to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the school coming up on 2nd March, 2024 and request for his presence during the programme.
