105 Technical Teachers that have undergone a 3 week training sponsored by the State government through IDEAS project have been enjoined to make the difference by applying the vocaational skills acquired to their students.
Executive Secretary of the State Science and Technical Schools Board, Dr Dahiru Saleh Muhammad gave the charge while on a visit to the training centre at School of Technical and Vocational Training of Federal Polytechnic Kaduna.
Dr Dahiru Saleh Muhammad who described the trainees as experienced teachers according to him more is expected from them.
He accented that this would no doubt prove if they would impart the knowledge gained to the youngers in order to change the narratives in the science Technical and Vocational Studies Statewide.
The Executive Secretary said ideally the Technical Education will comprise 70 percent practical while the rest will be theory,
He explained that the purpose of organising the training was to achieve this objectives,
The Executive officer added that the present administration has been up and doing to realize it’s mandate.
Dr Dahiru deplored the pathetic situation majority of the Technical Colleges found themselves and stressed the need for concerted effort to tackle the problem once and for all.
He noted that current administration was committed to make full utilization of the equipment that were available In the college now under utilized as well as provision of equipment in some of the New Technical Colleges, he said the future Technical College apart from being Schools should serve as an avenue of raking revenue for the government by handling some craft works.
In his remarks the North West Co ordinator of IDEAS, Alhaji Sani Wada said the training being carryied out includeAuto Tronic, Metal Work, Carpentry, Catering, and Garment Marking
He maitained it be continuous but the selection for the next phase will be on merit as only the participants that performed well will be considered.
He registered his appreciation to the State government over its tireless support in that respect
