A one day refresher course was organized for members of Vigilante Outfit in Kano
The training was in preparation of one month camping the members will undergo in Gabasawa Local Government Area very soon
The refresher training, held at Sani Abacha Indoor Sporthall and attended by the entire volunteers statewide, was aimed at enriching them with modern skills on observing their assignments
This according to the source will seriously help in lessening the blame meted on some of them on how they are using iron fist in treating cases brought before them which usually received wild condemnation
Speaking , the Commander of the Outfit, Alhaji Shehu Rabiu, who extolled current administration for footing the bill of the training, said the primary motive is to refresh brains of fellow members on contemporary technicalities of observing their voluntary functions
Alhaji Shehu Rabiu charged them against taking laws into their hands or jungle justice but always abide by spelt out laws of the land in dealing with suspects as such people are not criminals until proved otherwise by a court of law
He urged the participants to translate what they learnt into action in their various offices with a view to proving doubters wrong
On his part, the convener of the refresher Course, Major Ibrahim Umar Retired said the objective was to rejig them on how best to perform their voluntary jobs effectively
He charged then to uphold patience, dedication, fearlessness and resilience so as to become shining examples in their different localities
While speaking, one of the instructors Detective Auwalu Durimin Iya who lauded the foresight, called for periodic staging of the training as it would help them in no small measure with a view to be at par with others
He enjoined them to pay rapt attention in the course of the forum and feel free in asking questions on grey areas
