Malam Baba Halilu Dantiye was speaking while exchanging views with a team from the outfit’s office on advocacy visit at the ministry
He extolled them over their effort in curtailing the colossal loss of lives as a result of the disease which he said with concerted effort coupled with political will will be checkmated
The Government’s mouthpiece explained that his office will remain open for dialogue and consultations that will assist the present administration in attaining its set out plans and objectives particularly in the health sub sector
While speaking, the acting Program Manager and also the team lead from national Mr Kunle Ishola, said the outfit with offices across 28 states was established ten years ago with the sole intention of fighting Anaemia which has become one of the killer diseases among children and their mothers hence the need to work together to sanitize the challenge once and for all.
He expressed joy over how Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf our of his magnanimity approved the release of 500 million Naira for the purchase of Multiple Micronutrient Supplement MMS to fight the disease
Likewise Child Nutrition Fund which is a counter Fund from both the Government and UNICEF
The visitor enjoined the current administration to do the needful in creating Nutrition Departments across Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Parastatals
He however sought for six months maternity leave for pregnant mothers from the previous three months with full payment of all their entitlements.
The Acting Program Manager Mr Kule IShola furthermore requested for the increase in budgetary spending for Nutrition activities for Government organizations with releases and cash backing aimed at ensuring prompt quarterly filling of appraisal forms by such Ministries, Departments, as well as Agencies as performance management system
Mr Kunle Ishola who regretted how the rate of stunted children and those born with other deformities is in the increase in Kano due to malnutrition called on the Commissioner to use his influence and level of exposure as a veteran journalist to ensure prompt release of the funds earmarked in next year’s budget for the subject matter that would help in no small measure in bringing succour to the minors which he described as shining lights of the society.
Mr Kunle Ishola said this became imperative as sound nutrition helps in ensuring the birth of wholesome energetic and healthy babies
While speaking,the state Coordinator of the outfit, Hajiya Zainab Ali Musa, thumbed up the Commissioner over his level of seriousness in the war against one of the consumers of the lives of new born babies and nursing mothers
He thanked the Commissioner for his tirelessness and unalloyed support and cooperation in the campaign
While at the Ministry of Education, the acting Program Manager also the team lead Mr Kunle IShola reiterated the outfit’s resolve in joining hands with the ministry with a view to ensuring the ends justify the means as it is a known fact that education and health goes together
Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Education, the Director Administration and General Services of the Ministry,Malam Salisu Idris, thanked the team for the call pledging to lodge their message to the Commissioner for easy conveyance to the state Governor aimed at ensuring the practicalization of their target
