……. Kano HOS inaugurates fact finding committee
The Head of Service Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa has inaugurated a 9-Man Fact Finding Committee that will investigate the status of 379 local government staff collecting salaries with out proper identity.
While inaugurating the committee, the Head of Service disclosed that such move has became necessary following an earlier agitations for a solution to salary inconsistencies affecting the civil servants in the state.
Such agitations necessitates the revitalization of the state Payroll committee charged with the responsibility of providing dummy salary vouchers across the MDAs for the staff to verify and compare their salary vouchers and what is contained in their payment Slips for possible corrections and implementation.
He further stated that the exercise has lead to the discovery of 379 local government staff collecting salary with out proper identity, creating a doubt wether they are retired or dead.
The Head of Service said that to clear the doubt, it has became imperative to constitute a committee that will dig out the issue and come up with a valid report about the status of the 379 local government staff collecting such salaries, hence the constituting and subsequent inauguration of the 9-Man Fact Finding Committee.
The committee is charged to determine the extent of default or otherwise by the 379 identified local government staff and propose means of recouping the salary back to the treasury.
Another mandate of the committee is to offer any other recommendation(s) incidental to the assignment.
Alhaji Musa urged the committee members whom he said were carefully selected based on merit to excercise their given assignment with diligence and fear of Allah.
The committee which was given 2 weeks period to submit it’s report has Hajiya Kubra Iman, the Permanent Secretary ministry of Tourism and Culture as chairperson.
Other members of the committee are Abdulmalik I. Rogo and Auwalu Saminu Sagagi from local government Payroll standing committee, Lamido Aminu , Director Salary Validation Office of the Head of Service and Nura A. Baba Director Salary Validation ministry for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Also in the committee are Aminu Malamijo Abdullahi from SUBEB Kano, Aliyu Sani Muhammad, Director Research and Evaluation office of the SSG while Sulaiman Hodi Adamu Director Salary and Wages and Sadiq Faruk Yola, Principal Assistant Secretary from the office of the Head of Service will serve as secretary and co-secretary
