The national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), the political party that produced Nigeria’s president, is rumored to have resigned.
Abdullahi Umar Ganduje allegedly resigned on Friday, June 27, 2025, citing health concerns as his reason for quitting.
A source within APC said he was compelled to resign by forces opposed to his leadership due to complaints from various influential party members across the country.
Meanwhile, watchers of politics in Northern Nigeria, especially the youth, link his resignation to a fallout they believed he had with Vice President Kashim Shettima few weeks ago.
A senior party official told Nigerian Sketch that Ganduje’s alleged resignation has not been officially documented, but added that “In the event that the rumor turns out to be true, the deputy chairman north, Dalori, would be the natural successor.”
