Executive Secretary Kano State Hospitals Management Board Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda has approved the suspension of security guards of Imamu Wali Maternity Hospital and ordered the immediate engagement of another set of watchmen for onward posting.
The directive was a result of footage of a pregnant woman who later gave birth in a vehicle due to the negligence on the part of the security guards of the facility.
In the video that went viral, it shows how the patient’s husband knocked endlessly but the security guards were nowhere to be found inaction prompted him to take the video of the incident and make it public.
Dr Nagoda regretted that a similar case happened on the 26th of November, in which the security guards once again were nowhere to be seen to open the gate for the patient to gain entrance into the hospital, hence the husband had to rush her to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital being the closest.
Similarly, Dr Nagoda has approved the immediate suspension of three medical laboratory scientists whose names were withheld due to gross negligence, extortion, and other unwanted activities mostly with patients
He explained that their suspension became necessary and a committee would soon be set up to conduct an insight investigation on the matter to take actions that would serve as deterrents to others.
The Executive Secretary reiterated the need to know the existence of an internal security system at the facility to check their clinical proficiency, communication, and professional ethics.
