Farmers in Gwarzo local government area of Kano state are likely celebrating the Kano State government initiatives to distribute subsidised fertilizer to farmers across the state’s 44 local government areas.
Kano State Governor Engineer Abba Kabir Yusif has last month flagged off the distribution of fertilizer to enhance food production and secure livihold during the 2025 wet season.
This move aims to support smallholder farmers and boost Agricultural productivity more especially at the grassroots.
A farmer, Malam Mati Haladu from Mai Nika ward in Gwarzo Local Government Area, has expressed his gratitude to the Kano State Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, for providing farmers with modern fertilizer at a subsidized rate and at the right time. Malam Haladu stated that he had never seen such support from any government before.
He extended his appreciation to the state government and the leadership of Gwarzo Local Government under the chairmanship of Dr. Mani Tsoho.
Similarly, his colleague, Malam Usman Abdullahi Tela from Madadi ward, has also expressed his delight at the provision of modern fertilizer at a subsidized rate to farmers.
He thanked the Kano State Government and the Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government for their support.
Malam Tela assured that the farmers would use the fertilizer appropriately and promised not to sell it, as the Kano State Government had warned against such practices.
Recently, the Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government led the inauguration of a committee tasked with distributing subsidized fertilizer at his office.
He charged the committee members to uphold transparency and fairness in the distribution process, ensuring that the fertilizer reaches the intended recipients.
