Contractors handling projects statewide have been charged to execute works that would stand the test of time
The Senior Special Assistant to State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Comrade Bashir Abubakar Yari Galadima, gave the admonition while monitoring the conduct of some works in Sumaila locality
He stressed the need for the contractor to report any lapses that will hinder the timely renovation of the council’s secretariat to his office for immediate action
Comrade Yari Galadima who was in the area aimed at ensuring Council chairmen’ were spending the three hundred million Naira recently given to them by the Governor on projects execution were being expended judiciously cautioned the contractor on heeding to spelt out contractual agreement as the present administration will not condone white elephant projects
He stressed the need for the contractor to ensure the office of the council Chairman to reflect the standard of similar offices in urban areas statewide.
Commenting the efforts of the Council, the Senior Special Assistant applauded the administration’s dedication to people-oriented projects, especially in the areas of education, water supply, healthcare, and infrastructure.
He restated the state government’s commitment to approving proposals that are tailored towards projects with direct and meaningful impact on the lives of citizens.
Responding, the Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Farouk Abdu Sumaila, expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for providing the enabling environment and support for local governments to effectively serve their people.
He pointed out that within last six months, the local administration has recorded significant achievements in the areas of water supply, education, healthcare, road construction, and other aspects of human capital development.
This inspection forms part of the broader state-wide assessment to ensure transparency, accountability, and delivery of fruits of democratic governance to the larger majority
Some of the projects inspected include Sumaila general hospital , Water Tanks at Sumaila town, Liman Ya’u Junior Islamiyya Secondary School, and Farin Gida Health Facility
