The Gombe State Government has approved the dissolution of all existing State Sports Associations with immediate effect. This decision, conveyed through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, follows a directive from His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Gombe State, and is aimed at restructuring the sports sector in line with national sports guidelines.
According to the directive, the restructuring exercise will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) 2017 Constitution and the recommendations of the National Sports Commission and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
Speaking on the development, the Hon.commisioner ministry of youths and sports development, Hon. Adamu Inuwa Pantami, emphasized that the move is part of the ongoing efforts to restructure the sports administration, coordination, and performance of sports in the state. A new framework for the reconstitution of the sports associations will be announced in due course.
The Gombe State Government remains committed to fostering an enabling environment for grassroots sports development and will continue to work closely with relevant stakeholders to enhance the growth of sports and talent discovery across the state.
