It has beaten my imagination how journalists nowadays are not adhering to the ethical norms and values of the noble profession
It is totally bad and unbecoming how journalists in some instances join hands with others for material gain to settle scores with their perceived enemies or adversaries through making disparaged and invective reportage or news stories which has now been the order of the day across the length and breadth of the larger society particularly at this period of Democratic dispensation where people hide under the pretext of freedom of expression to write or utter jargons as they wish over traditional or new media
This act rightly undermined the core values of the term press freedom as such practitioners are duly required or in other words expected to be impartial umpires hence to be free and fair in their judgement rather than to side with one another to the detriment of the other which at the end caused misunderstanding
Thus in a nutshell we have to stand firm and neutral in the course of observing our spelt out duties by reporting stories as they are not minding what will be the outcome or repercussion of doing so
When we heed this, by and large, our popularity, image, prestige and image will blossom and above all we would be highly self contented and bold in a given environment as one of the attributes of a good journalist is upholding objectivity and fairness in the course of his assignment
Certainly it is not too late to amend things with much commitment, unresolved seriousness , determination, tenacity and zeal
At this juncture it would not be out of place if one try wholeheartedly in reporting the truth and nothing but the truth in order to retain the good name of the profession
