It was a repeat of the thirty seventh edition at this year’s only surviving Tennis tournament in this part of the country
Thus , immediate past edition champions, encompassing Canice Abua for Men’s event and Khadija Mohammed for women’s category consolidated on their previous achievement
The males category champion went home with one million and one hundred thousand Naira while the females winner carted with six hundred and sixty thousand Naira
While speaking at the closing ceremony the Organiser of the event,Alhaji Bashari Muhammad Gumel thanked core sponsors of the yearly tourney for their unalloyed endurance and tirelessness which he said helped in making the competition second to none both at home and beyond
The Gaffer however hoped the tempo will be sustained for years to come as according Saka leads while others follow
He seized the medium to express his undiluted gratitude to the participants for their determination and zeal in that respect and more importantly the winners for their spectacular achievement of defending the trophies they lifted last year describing it as superb
The Chairman moreover used the occasion to condole with the families of their deceased members and prayed to God to accord them eternal forgiveness
Speaking Chief Referee of the competition Alhaji Sa’idu Bala who spoke similarly, thanked all those who gave both financial and logistic assistance aimed at making the nine day event colourful hoping they would keep the flag flying
