In a major security success, a joint task force comprising the Nigerian Military, DSS, Police, and other paramilitary agencies has neutralized over 150 bandits who attacked parts of Kano State between Thursday night and Friday morning. The operation led to the recovery of 125 stolen cows after the bandits were chased to Kogoro town in Katsina State.
Confirming the development on Friday, the entire Security Committee of Faruruwa, Shanono, and Bagwai Local Government Areas, through its Chairman, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, commended the Nigerian Military, Police, DSS, and other paramilitary forces for their swift and decisive action.
“I can confirm to you that the Bridge Commander of Bukavor Barracks, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, and the Director of the DSS in Kano jointly led the operation. They pursued the bandits into Kogoro town in Katsina State, where they were all eliminated and the stolen cows recovered,” Bagobiri stated.
He added that, by the will of God, the operation has brought an end to the persistent encroachment of bandits in the affected areas, which had previously been turned into a hub for cattle rustling.
According to reports, hundreds of bandits riding motorcycles attacked several villages in Shanono Local Government Area between Thursday night and Friday morning. However, they were met with overwhelming military firepower.
During the attack, one civilian was killed, and over 150 cows were initially stolen. Nevertheless, the gallant Nigerian Military and other security agencies pursued the attackers, eliminated them, and successfully recovered the stolen livestock.
Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, while once again commending the Military, DSS, Police, and other security agencies, also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the new Minister of Defence, General Musa, for their resolve and commitment to restoring peace and security in Kano State and across Northern Nigeria
