The Senate and House of Representatives Committees on the North-West Development Commission (NWDC), in collaboration with the North-West Development Commission, will convene a one-day North-West Stakeholders’ Development Summit on 31 January 2026 in Kaduna State.
The summit, themed “Advancing a Coordinated Regional Development Agenda for North-West Nigeria,” will take place at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Conference Centre, Murtala Muhammad Square, Kaduna, and is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m.
According to the Chairmen of the Senate and House of Representatives Committees on the North-West Development Commission, the summit is designed to bring together critical stakeholders from across the seven North-West states to collectively examine the region’s development challenges and harmonise priorities for sustainable growth.
“The North-West faces complex and interconnected challenges ranging from insecurity and infrastructure deficits to youth unemployment and social development gaps. These challenges cannot be addressed in isolation.
This summit provides a platform for frank dialogue, shared responsibility, and coordinated action,” the Committees stated.
The summit will feature plenary sessions, technical discussions, and sector-specific engagements aimed at strengthening collaboration, enhancing policy coherence, and supporting the effective implementation of the Commission’s mandate across the region.
Expected participants include members of the North-West Governors’ Forum, Federal and State Government officials, members of the National Assembly, traditional and religious leaders, development partners, private sector stakeholders, non-governmental and civil society organisations, academia, youth and women groups, as well as representatives of the media.
The Committees noted that outcomes from the summit will help guide the programmes and interventions of the North-West Development Commission, while fostering stronger partnerships among stakeholders committed to the socio-economic development of the region.
Interested participants are encouraged to register via www.nwdc.gov.ng/summit or by scanning the barcode on the official summit invitation.
