The Kano State Government has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Tricell Solar to fast-track the development of a 500-megawatt solar power project.
This was made known by the Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Dr. Gaddafi Sani-Shehu, during a meeting with a Tricell Solar delegation to review the agreement.
The meeting focused on reviewing progress and exploring ways to accelerate renewable energy initiatives across the state.
Dr. Sani-Shehu emphasized that the project demonstrates the government’s commitment to diversifying the state’s energy mix and meeting growing electricity demand.
“This initiative will expand energy access and support sustainable development in Kano State,” he said.
Tricell Solar’s CEO, Ali Kobeissi, stated that the company aims to deliver 500MW of solar power, foster innovation, attract investment, and create employment opportunities.
He added that the improved power supply would spur economic growth and benefit small businesses and households throughout the state.
