The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has presented a Certificate of Return to Ali Musa Danmaliki, as the duly elected chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Council, following a Kano State High Court ruling in his favour.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Usman Gwadabe.
The presentation took place at the Government House in Kano, in the presence of the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Ismail Jibril Falgore.
Speaking at the event, the KANSIEC Chairman, Prof. Sani Lawal Malumfashi, said the commission acted in line with the constitution by implementing the court’s directive.
He said KANSIEC’s statutory mandate includes organising elections, issuing certificates to winners, and upholding the rule of law by respecting judicial pronouncements.
“We are here to act strictly on the State High Court verdict by presenting a Certificate of Return to the duly declared winner and elected Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Council, Ali Musa Danmaliki,” he said.
The commission also said it had retrieved the certificate earlier issued to Abdullahi Ghali Shitu following the 2024 local government elections.
Speaking on behalf of the party, the Kano APC Chairman, Haruna Duguwa, said the party remained committed to the rule of law, regardless of whether a judgment is in its favour.
He urged the new chairman to work closely with his constituents and partner with the state government to deliver democratic dividends.
In his remarks, Danmaliki expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for respecting the court order.
He pledged loyalty to the administration and promised to work towards the governor’s re-election in the 2027 general elections.
