Preparations have intensified at Benford International School, Abuja, as students step up training ahead of the school’s Inter-House Sports competition and the launch of its “Play, Swim and Grow” fundraising campaign.
The school premises have, in recent weeks, become a centre of vibrant activity, with pupils participating in rehearsals, selection heats and practice sessions across various sporting events.
The competition is scheduled to hold on March 28, 2026, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, starting at 9:00 a.m. The event is expected to attract students, parents, alumni, staff, invited schools, youth organisations and other guests.
Activities lined up for the day include a colourful march-past by competing houses and invited groups, track and field events, as well as novelty competitions.
A major highlight of the event will be the official launch of the “Play, Swim and Grow” campaign, aimed at raising funds for modern playground equipment and the construction of a standard swimming pool.
Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ambassador Benaoyagha Okoyen, said the level of preparation among students reflects their enthusiasm and commitment.
He noted that weeks of intensive rehearsals and competitive activities have engaged the students across different sporting disciplines, including football, table tennis, javelin and shot put, as well as march-past and calisthenics displays.
According to him, the preparation process has gone beyond sports, helping to build discipline, resilience and teamwork among the students.
He added that the activities have been inclusive, with every student participating in one event or another, either on the field, track or in coordinated group performances.
Speaking on the fundraising initiative, Okoyen described the campaign as part of the school’s commitment to holistic education, noting that improved facilities would help nurture students’ physical development and promote healthy living.
He called on parents, alumni, corporate organisations and members of the public to support the initiative and attend the event.
The Inter-House Sports competition remains one of the school’s major annual events, promoting unity, healthy competition and community spirit.
