Senior High Chief Tony Akiotu, the newly elected Chairman of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), has pledged to lead an inclusive and forward-looking administration focused on sustainability, digital transition, and industry growth.
Akiotu made the pledge on Wednesday during his acceptance speech, describing his victory as a collective mandate reflecting the trust and confidence of members across the organisation.
He expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support, saying he would approach the responsibility of leading BON with humility and a strong sense of duty.
Acknowledging his co-contestant, Raymond Dokpesi Jr., Akiotu said both camps share a commitment to advancing broadcasting in Nigeria.
He also paid tribute to past leaders and industry pioneers, including the late High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, for their contributions to radio and television broadcasting.
Akiotu assured members that his leadership would be open and inclusive, giving all stakeholders a voice regardless of size or ownership structure.
He outlined key priorities for his administration, including strengthening the sustainability of broadcast institutions, supporting the digital transition, enhancing professional skills, and promoting industry collaboration.
The new chairman commended the outgoing executive committee for laying a solid foundation, promising to build on their achievements with renewed energy and cooperation.
He also thanked his supporters, campaign team, and associates, dedicating his victory to all BON members and the Nigerian media industry.
Akiotu concluded by calling for unity among members, urging them to work together to advance the organisation and position it as a leading voice in Nigeria’s evolving media landscape.
