The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has confirmed Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota as the substantive Head of Civil Service.
The confirmation, announced on Wednesday in a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, signals a new phase in the administration’s ongoing public service reforms.
Maimota’s elevation comes shortly after a high-profile event marking the unveiling of the sixth tranche of payments to clear outstanding gratuities and death benefits owed to pensioners and families of deceased civil servants.
Observers note that the timing underscores the government’s commitment to addressing inherited liabilities while strengthening the state’s administrative machinery.
Maimota had assumed the role in an acting capacity about a month ago following the removal of Alhaji Abdullahi Musa. Her confirmation is seen as a vote of confidence in her leadership and capacity to drive reforms within the civil service.
While announcing her appointment, Governor Yusuf urged the new Head of Service to leverage her experience to revamp the system, stressing the need for a more efficient, responsive, and accountable public service.
He also congratulated her and expressed optimism that her tenure would bring measurable improvements across ministries, departments, and agencies.
