The Kano Indigenes in Abuja Initiative has successfully convened its second major meeting at Rumfa College, marking a significant milestone in preparation for its forthcoming national inauguration ceremony scheduled to take place in Abuja.
The meeting brought together members and key stakeholders committed to fostering unity, promoting social responsibility, and advancing community development among Kano indigenes residing in the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Association, Ali Baba Ibrahim (popularly known as Ali Baba), disclosed that the organization was established in 2009 with the primary objective of supporting orphans and the less privileged in society.
He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to improving educational opportunities for students and addressing the growing challenge of drug abuse among youths.
He further revealed that preparations are in full swing for the national inauguration of the association’s leadership—an event expected to attract prominent personalities and members from across the country.
According to him, the inauguration will herald a new phase in the association’s growth, enabling it to expand its activities and strengthen its organizational structure nationwide.
As part of resolutions reached during the meeting, leaders representing the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State were issued official letters of introduction. These leaders have been mandated to present the association to their respective traditional rulers and Local Government Chairmen to enhance grassroots engagement and foster collaboration with local authorities.
Some participants, including Huzaifa Muhammad Lawan from Gwale Local Government Area and Hajiya Mariya Yahaya Wudil, the Majidadiyar Makaman Kano, expressed satisfaction with the successful conduct of the meeting. They commended the leadership for its vision, organization, and steadfast commitment to community service.
The meeting concluded with an interactive session, during which participants engaged the leadership with questions and received detailed responses—further demonstrating transparency, inclusiveness, and unity within the association.
