Commissioner for Justice Attorney general Barrister Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude says the present administration will abide by courts verdict no matter the outcome
He was speaking at the handing over of seven children to a private orphanage as ordered by a court in the state capital
He pointed out that the children despite the ruling have the right to select where they want to live best as spelt out in the law
The Commissioner maintained that as a responsible Government they would be using sweets and carrots were necessary so as serve as lesson
While Speaking the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Children Hajiya Amina Abdullahi HOD,said gone are days when people would be allowed to operate their activities arbitralily without being questioned stressing that from now on such private orphanage will be monitored so as to separate the chaff from the grains hence sanitising their conduct
She added that sooner than later a child protection law will be signed into law by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to guard minors from molestation or indiscriminate maltreatment
On his part, Mr Gideon Uzor of the private Orphanage, expressed delight over the action of the state government which he said proved doubting Thomas wrong
In his word “the acceptance of the ruling by the Government despite the fact it did not favour them came as a surprise to me and rest of our management hence it shows how Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is a leader that makes impractical practical
It would be recalled that the release of the minors followed a verdict by a court in the middle of March this year which directed the state government to do so
But to one utmost surprise was how some of the children refused to go back together with the leadership of the orphanage as they wept openly when they were about to leave the venue
