The Sarkin Yoruba of Kano, Dr. Alhaji Murtala Alimi Ote-Sese, has continued his support for members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State chapter, with an additional donation to aid their academic pursuits.
The traditional titleholder recently paid the sum of ₦240,000 to settle outstanding school fees for three SWAN members studying at the College of Islamic and Legal Studies, affiliated with the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma.
The beneficiaries are currently in their 300 level.
Recall that Dr. Alimi had earlier donated ₦250,000 as scholarships to the same students upon their admission in 2024.
He said the gesture was part of his commitment to community service, particularly in promoting education and supporting young professionals to advance in journalism and related fields.
The Kano-based businessman described the intervention as a way of giving back to society and creating opportunities for youth development.
In his remarks, a former chairman of the association and current National Ex-Officio member, Lurwanu Idris Malikawa Garu (Dagacin Malikawa), expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing Dr. Alimi as a dependable patron of the association.
He called on well-to-do individuals to emulate the initiative in fostering community development, and urged the beneficiaries to justify the support by excelling in their studies.
