The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Isma’il Falgore, has inaugurated the reconstruction of the Gwangwan Bridge and a road project linking Rogo–Ruma, Gwangwan, Ruwan Bago and Falgore communities in Rogo Local Government Area.
The bridge, which collapsed during last year’s rainy season, had disrupted movement across the affected communities, particularly for farmers transporting their produce.
Speaking at the event, Falgore said the project is aimed at easing transportation challenges faced by farmers, especially during the current farming season, and reducing post-harvest losses.
The initiative is part of the Kano State Government’s rural infrastructure development drive under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, focused on improving access roads and enhancing the movement of goods and services within and beyond the state.
A statement by the Information Officer of Rogo Local Government, Abdu Bako Abdullahi, said the intervention followed complaints from residents over the hardship and losses they suffered due to the collapsed bridge.
Also speaking, the Councillor of Gwangwan Ward, Usamatu Magaji Gwangwan, said the Speaker assured the community that the project would be completed within six months.
He expressed appreciation to the Speaker, the Director of State Programmes, Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo, the Chairman of Rogo Local Government Council, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha Rogo, and other stakeholders for their support.
Gwangwan assured that residents would cooperate fully with contractors to ensure timely completion of the project.
