Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has distributed 1,540 plots of land and a cash grant of ₦100 million to leaders of the APC Polling Unit Supporters Association, popularly known as ‘Yan Akwati, to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor announced the gesture during the inauguration of the association in Kano, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Yusuf described the polling unit structure as the foundation of the APC’s electoral strength, saying empowering grassroots supporters would enhance the party’s mobilisation efforts.
He said the initiative would help secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid and other APC candidates in future elections.
The governor also said Tinubu’s re-election would ensure the continuity of ongoing economic reforms and development programmes across the country.
According to him, the allocation of the plots and the ₦100 million grant is intended to motivate members of the association and strengthen coordination of party activities at the polling unit level.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana, described the intervention as the first phase of a broader strategy to consolidate the APC’s grassroots support ahead of the 2027 elections.
Bakwana expressed confidence that the ‘Yan Akwati network could mobilise more than one million votes for President Tinubu in Kano State.
The event was attended by party leaders, political stakeholders and representatives of the association from the 44 local government areas of the state.
