No fewer than 301 students from Minjibir Local Government Area of Kano State have been sponsored to study for the National Certificate in Education (NCE) at the Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies, Minjibir Campus.
The sponsorship was facilitated by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude (SAN).
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held Tuesday at the college premises, Maude said the initiative was part of his long-standing commitment to expanding access to education.
He stated that arrangements had been made to ensure the continuity of the programme, adding that beneficiaries would be supported throughout the duration of their studies.
The commissioner also pledged further assistance for outstanding students to enable them to pursue university education after completing the NCE programme.
Maude noted that the initiative aligns with the education policy of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, which focuses on providing inclusive, quality and sustainable education for all.
In her remarks, Jamila Mansur Chiranchi, who represented the Provost of the College, Auwal Farouk, described the gesture as commendable and urged the students to take their studies seriously.
The event attracted government officials, political leaders, educationists and members of the business community, and featured the presentation of awards to the attorney general in recognition of his contributions to education.
