Ahmadiyya Platform Basketball Team has emerged winners of the maiden edition of the Ahmad Musa Kida Foundation 3×3 basketball competition held at Rumfa College basketball court, Kano.
The one-day tournament was sponsored by the President of the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF), Alhaji Ahmad Musa Kida, as part of efforts to promote grassroots development of basketball across the country.
Ahmadiyya Platform defeated highly rated Rumfa College 21–14 in the final to lift the trophy.
Speaking after the final match, the competition coordinator and former basketball star, Sunusi Shuaibu Badway, expressed satisfaction with the turnout of spectators at the event.
He also appreciated the NBBF President for sponsoring the tournament, while calling on other wealthy individuals and corporate organisations to support the development of basketball in Kano State and Nigeria at large.
In his remarks, Kano-based businessman and veteran basketball player, Alhaji Tijjani Paki, commended Kida for supporting youth development through sporting competitions, noting that such initiatives would motivate players to improve their skills for future state, national and international engagements.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of medals and trophies to winners and runners-up, while the remaining six teams — Elevators, Bayero University Kano (BUK), Kabuga Warriors, Bukavu Blinks, Paki Warriors and Sweet Coach Mother — received souvenirs.
