Chief of Army Staff Lt General Taoreeq Lagbaja says the ties between the outfit and fourth estate of the realm will continue to be of Mutual benefit, trust and understanding
Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja who was speaking at Nigerian Army Civic Second Quarter Media parley 2024 held in Kano emphasized that the existing rapport between the duo will by no means blossom and aside be smooth and cordial to all the partners
The Army General thus, cautioned the members of the pen industry to guard against speculating news stories that will promote upheaval or misguide the larger population but those that will boost love, unity and understanding within a given environmwnt
He maintained that the formation under his vigillance will leave it gates open for media practitioners aimed at observing their spelt out assignments devoid of molestation nor hindrance as the case is in advanced world as so doing will wholly and squarely prove cynics wrong.
He affirmed that our premium goal is to ensure just, fair, decent and sensible news reporting so as to boost confidence and promoting good working relationship with the greater majority he stressed
This according to the Army Chief will in no way play a befitting role in ensuring a dependable, reliable and open communication device which will be used by the Army establishment
General Lagbaja who spoke through General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saranso,
reiterated the importance of enhancing synergy between the two bodies with a view to ensuring the ends justify the means being partners in progress
He added that on their part they would continue to work seriously in attaining their enshrined roles as written in the constitution of the land hence called on the fourth estate of the realm to do so through ensuring objective and impartial reporting
This according to him will erase fear rumour and scepticism being entertained or expressed in some quarters that on most occasions media people accord priority on sensational or fake stories
He said the chat is all about uplifting understanding and togetherness between the components outfits going by their positions in the midst of the society
General Lagbaja said they would continue to work diligently in ensuring a lasting peace prevail across the country through the observance of kinetic and non kinetic assignments so as to ensure the outright ejection of troublemakers and their abbetors
This he said will not be practical without the support and cooperation of media practitioners
The Chief of Army Staff said such interaction will continue as it is a platform of boosting synergy and thrashing out wrangling between the partners thanking the partners for gracing the event
Speaking in a similar vein, the Chief of Civil Military Affairs Major General Nosakhare Ugbo, described the parley as a medium of boosting love and understanding with journalists in view of their role of educating, enlightening and linking the government and the governed
On his part, the state commissioner for Information Halilu Baba Dantiye represented by Malam Usman Bello hailed the vision behind staging the event in Kano enjoining the attendants to discuss thoroughly on the subject matter with a view to achieving logical conclusion stressing that the present administration will continue to accord military formations the needed support in attaining their credentials of protecting lives and properties of the citizens
While speaking the Chairman of the state wing of Nigeria Union of Journalist, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, called for periodic staging of the fora as it will go a long way in uplifting trust, cooperation and blossom good working ties
He thanked the participants for finding time to grace the occasion and apart from that discussing and contributing throughly in the numerous topics brought forward hoping what acquired will be translated for the betterment of the generality
