Alhaji Surajo Mahmud Barde has been officially turbaned as the Shield of the Qur’an Memorizers of Nassarawa Local Government Area—an honor that carries deep emotional weight, symbolizing both trust and a sacred responsibility.
The ceremony was more than a formal recognition; it was a heartfelt celebration of a man whose life has been devoted to uplifting others through the light of the Holy Qur’an. For many in attendance, it was a moment of pride and gratitude, as the community gathered to honor a figure whose quiet sacrifices have shaped countless futures.
Malam Yahaya Barau the headmaster of Attasfiyya Walttarbiyah litahfizil qur an(Darul Huffaz), said over the years, Barde has remained a steadfast supporter of young Qur’an memorizers, offering not only financial assistance but also encouragement, guidance, and unwavering belief in their potential.
Adding that his efforts have given hope to families, opened doors for aspiring scholars, and nurtured a generation rooted in faith and knowledge.
His impact goes far beyond the classroom.
By strengthening the culture of Qur’anic learning, he has inspired a renewed sense of purpose among community members, reminding them of the enduring value of faith-based education.
Barde further noted many now see the memorization of the Qur’an not just as a spiritual journey, but as a legacy worth preserving.
Community leaders and Islamic scholars, visibly moved during the event, praised Barde as a pillar of compassion and commitment—a man whose humility matches his generosity, and whose actions continue to inspire others to give selflessly.
This touching recognition is not just a tribute to his past, but a powerful call to continue a noble mission. As he wears this new title, it stands as a symbol of trust from the people and a beacon of hope for future generations of Qur’an memorizers who will walk the path he has helped illuminate.
