Super Eagles in the commercial City of Bouake a city of many Nigerians in the West African sub region engage their South African counterparts Bafana Bafana in the last four of the biennial soccer event.
The match which is expected to be a thriller going by the existing arch rivalry between the two sides in the round leather game which dated for years.
Although the two teams have things in common as they won the trophy in the past and among the power house in the continent but in reali sense devoid of sentiment the Super Eagles are far ahead of Bafana Bafana in terms of exposure and football artistry as most of the lads of the rainbow nation’s team are home-based although football is not predictable as anything can happen.
While the first encounter is a meeting of English speaking nation’s the second will be a cracker comprising French speaking countries that is the Leopards of Congo and Elephants of Ivory Coast who have lifted the Cup on two occasions.
While the host who scaled so many hurdles before reaching the last four would like to keep the trophy at home their counterparts Congo who won the cup at a time when bulk of the present generations were not born would like to do so if not for anything for history as the last time they won was when the country is being called Zaire.
No matter what occurred at the different venues the final will witness an English speaking country and that of Francophone at the famous Houphoet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan the country’s capital.
But delightfully none of the teams will go home empty handed at the end of the tournament as there are consolation prizes for those who lose.
The next edition in 2025 is to be hosted by Morocco.
