Athletes from Benin, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and host nation Nigeria are preparing for the upcoming Dynamic Athletics Meet scheduled for mid-August at the Yabatech Sports Complex in Lagos.
The World Athletics-listed competition, organised by Dynamic Athletics, has continued to attract growing interest across West Africa ahead of the event.
Founder and meet organiser, Olabanji Ayegbusi, said athletes from participating countries have already indicated their readiness through emails and other forms of communication, expressing strong interest in competing.
He noted that with the 2026 athletics season gradually winding down, the meet offers athletes an opportunity to end their campaigns on a strong note, achieve personal bests, and improve their world rankings.
According to him, the competition has over the years gained a reputation for high-quality performances, including world-leading marks, meeting records, and several personal bests, a tradition expected to continue in this year’s edition.
Ayegbusi said the meet would provide a platform for both elite and emerging athletes to showcase their talents while calling for increased technical and financial support to ensure its success.
“The Dynamic Athletics Meet belongs to everyone in the athletics family—athletes, coaches, former athletes, media practitioners, board members, technical officials and track and field philanthropists. We all have a role to play in making it bigger and better,” he said.
He also appealed to the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the National Sports Commission (NSC) to support the initiative, stressing that such backing would help advance the growth of athletics in Nigeria and the West African region.
