The Development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC) has reaffirmed its dedication to supporting Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) in Kano and Jigawa states.
This commitment aims to bridge socio-economic gaps and promote equal opportunities for disadvantaged children ¹.
According to Hajiya Aisha Bello, the gender-based Officer of dRPC, said ECCD innovation is vital for holistic community development.
She emphasized this during the presentation of educational materials to ECCD centers at the Murtala Muhammad Library.
The benefits of ECCD programs are numerous. They enable parents to balance work and family responsibilities, increasing productivity and economic participation.
Furthermore, Community-Based Initiatives engage local communities in ECCD efforts, promoting cultural relevance and sustainability
However, challenges persist. The Jigawa State Chairman of the State Universal Primary Education Board highlighted the lack of infrastructure, inadequate facilities, and equipment maintenance.
Additionally, the shortage of skilled staff and insufficient training impede the delivery of high-quality ECCD services ¹.
Despite these challenges, the dRPC has made significant strides. Twenty ECCD centers from Jigawa and Kano states have benefited from educational materials provided by the dRPC.
This initiative demonstrates the organization’s commitment to enhancing ECCD in Northern Nigeria.
