Kano pillars football Club suffered their worst defeat in the on going top flight on the hands of reigning Champions Enyimba of Aba
The pyramid City Lads who thrashed the Aba Giants by a lone in theI reversed edition in Kano fell woefully to their opponents to took a revenge of their lack luster performance at Sani Abacha Stadium
During the first half of the encounter,it was three zero in favour of the host who were hungry for success since the beginning of the match
When the second half resumed the host added two more goals to make it five
Historically, this was the first time the Kano boys lost to the Elephants by such a wide margin
While responding to questions after the game, Pillars tactician, Abdul Maikaba, attributed the dismal outing to fatigue as they came to the match venue some few hours to the tie
He pledged to correct errors before their subsequent engagement against Shooting Stars of Ibadan in Kano
Thus something good need to be done aimed to salvage the image of the team who were returning to the elite competition after a year absence
Nobody will feel happy over what happened to the team who earlier pleaded for suspension of the tie in view of some pressing challenges facing them which are yet to be solved
At this juncture Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf need to intervene over the matter aimed at ensuring things have went out of hand as it would be dangerous for one and all
Thus as there were rumours of unpaid bonuses and other entitlements the management was said to be owing the boys, this need to be settled as nobody will work with an empty stomach
Pillars is a household team in the country in view of its large following when last they were relegated it was not only its teeming fans that felt bitter but rather the north and the country as a whole
From the club’s establishment in 1990 to date it faced relegation thrice and luckily enough, on this three occasions, the team did nit stay for more than a season in the lower class
For this reason, anything capable of causing a repeat of the previous misadventure should be avoided before it is too late
