The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Kano State Command, has swiftly responded to a fire outbreak at a truck sales yard, saving property estimated at about N560 million.
The State Controller, Mr Kazeem Sholadoye, disclosed this in a statement signed by the service’s Public Relations Officer, Al-Hassan Kantin, on Tuesday in Kano.
The incident occurred on March 16, 2026.
According to him, the service received a distress call at about 1:45 p.m. from No. 14, Murtala Muhammed Way, in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.
He added, “Upon receiving the report, we immediately deployed our firefighting team from the Federal Secretariat station to the scene.”
Kantin said the fire affected a truck sales yard where vehicles were displayed for sale at the time of arrival.
He stated that the affected area, measuring about 30.48 by 60 metres, was successfully confined to a single truck head.
Kantin said preliminary findings indicated that the fire was caused by suspected bush burning.
He said due to the swift response and professionalism of personnel, property valued at N560 million was saved, while estimated losses stood at N70 million.
Kantin added, “No casualty was recorded, and the firefighters conducted a thorough inspection to ensure there was no further risk of fire.”
He also said the firefighters, in collaboration with personnel from the State Fire Service Headquarters, Kofar Nasarawa, brought the fire under control using two medium jets of water.
He advised the public to exercise caution, particularly with bush burning, to prevent avoidable fire incidents.
