Few could have imagined that Khadija Abdullahi Maikano, a beneficiary of the Kano State Government’s overseas scholarship under the administration of His Excellency, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, would rise to international distinction and bring immense pride to Kano State.
Through outstanding academic performance, she emerged as the Best Outgoing International Postgraduate Student among candidates from over 85 countries at one of India’s most prestigious universities.
This remarkable feat earned her the Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award, the institution’s highest honor for international students, presented during its 22nd Convocation Ceremony by India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar.
Khadija also graduated as the Topper (First Rank) in the MBA in Hospital and Healthcare Management program, outperforming 110 students, including Indian and international candidates.
She received the Topper Award from the Provost, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Professor Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar.
These achievements reflect the Kano State Government’s strong commitment to education and human capital development, championed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Her success clearly demonstrates that investment in education yields lasting dividends.
Khadija’s excellence is rooted in a strong academic background. She attended NAF Staff Secondary School and Girls Science Secondary School before earning a B.Sc. in Pharmacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, graduating with distinction. She later emerged as Second Runner-Up in the 2024 Young Managers Competition organized by the Nigerian Institute of Management, competing against over 500 participants nationwide.
Grateful for the life-changing opportunity provided by the Kano State Government, Khadija remains committed to contributing meaningfully to healthcare and human development.
She is currently managing a healthcare facility in another state, though many believe her expertise would have even greater impact if deployed at the national level.
