To be sincere it beats my imagination over the outcry by some crop of the citizenry over the presents of one hundred and fifty million Naira each to every member of the winning Super Falcons at WAFCON Tagged Morocco 2024
The act really shows how the rate of acrimony or lll feeling has taken a new dimension in the hearts and minds of some countrymen and women
Definitely the noise over the lavishing by Mr President did not arise as the gallant Ladies are highly entitled for the money in view of how they patriotically defended the name of country at the football tournament
It is so laughable that when some certain crooks were diverting millions of Dollars to private accounts and go Scot free otherwise is the case when son and daughters of the ordinary members of the society were handsomely rewarded for their heroics
The ugly act clearly showed the height of jealousy and envy of our people
Frankly speaking, you will be highly surprised if you see the number of Nigerian sportsmen and women that have donned the colours of the country in international events that are languishing in abject poverty let alone those that are bed ridden or died and nobody cares to listen rather than to initiate how best to assist members of their respective families who may be in serious plight
But the noise will start whenever such people were rewarded a little change from the treasury for their commendable effort
which they are entitled to being full fledged citizens
This is not the case in other climes particularly in Europe and America where such people were regarded as National Heroes hence accorded special recognitions within the length and breadth of their respective lands
One would wonder the special honour given to King Pele when he died such could not happen here in Nigeria as many super stars have died and nothing was heard
It is high time that the group of people should think wise by shunning such kind of an act as envy and jealousy would not take us anywhere but rather cause serious regression in the greater environment
Profoundly speaking ,a wise word says give credit to whom it is due
