Just last week during the encounter between Kano Pillars Football Team and their counterpart Niger Tornadoes that came from Minna in North Central region some cream of sports writers under Muzammil Dalha Yola who is the Assistant Secretary of the outfit in Kano were denied access to watch the duel even as they expressed themselves by presenting their identification cards
Thus it took long deliberation until they were allowed entry
The matter which was not the first time was most unfortunate and condemnable
Rightly speaking, sports especially soccer and journalism are birds of the same feather as each needs the support and assistance of the other to develop
Historically, most sports men and women attained fame in their respective games as a result of the much publicity they received from men of the pen profession
Profoundly, sports without journalist is like tea without sugar hence, as the brouhaha had occurred, there is the need for the leadership of the club and officials
of the state football outfit likewise security operatives to sit on a roundtable so as to reconcile their differences with a view to guarding against a repeat of last season’s face off between members of the Union and ex pillars tactician Abdul Maikaba which led to boycot of the team’s games
Certainly, nobody could dispute the contribution journalists in Kano are according towards the progression of Kano Pillars Football Team right from its establishment way back in 1990 to date
Sincerely speaking to deny their members access to watch matches of a team they immensely accord contribution towards its speedy growth is highly laughable and ridiculous
From by understanding Ali Nayara fondly called Maisamba the present Chairman of Kano Pillars Football Team right from his Samba Kurna days, has been an ardent friend of journalists in Kano and to the best of my knowledge being a right thinking person he would not allow the rapport to severe as a result of the greediness and selfishness of some certain few individuals who are fond of accumulating Ill gotten wealth in the name of gate takings as Swan is Pillars and vice versa or rather the two are identical and above all conjoined twins that could not be kept asunder
To this end, there is the need for a renewed synergy between them aimed at avoiding a new confrontation that may seriously affect the perceived success of the pyramid city Lads in the on going premier League as from all indication we have started seeing light in the tunnel and anything capable of causing disruption in that respect should be tackled once and for all in the interest of fairness , justice and tranquility
Based on this as the Management of the club are fully aware that an injury to a member of the journalists family is like injury to all they should brace up in ensuring sanity into the mess up so as to avoid its escalation as it would not produce the required dividend for both parties
The time for taming the situation before it degenerate is now
An adage says a word is enough for or the wise
