Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will start registration of eligible voters across all the twelve (12) wards in Dala Local Government Area from the 2nd of February
The Electoral Officer of the Local Government, Alhaji A. A. Maulud, stated this in a statement during a stakeholders’ meeting on electoral matters in the area.
According to the statement , the exercise is open to all eligible persons who do not have a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), regardless of age
It further explained that the exercise will also cover
persons whose PVCs are damaged ,
those with errors in their personal details and
who wish to transfer their registration to another polling unit or state where they currently reside.
The statement according to the Electoral Officer emphasized that those below 18 years were not involved
It called for increased public awareness and sensitization on the importance of voter registration, urging those without PVCs or those in need of corrections to take advantage
The statement noted that eligible persons can begin the registration process online using their mobile phones by entering the required details.
It stressed that physical appearance at the INEC office is mandatory for fingerprint capture and final verification.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders and leaders of various political parties in Dala Local Government Area.
