If one could remember Super Eagles Tactician Jose Paseiro, made a pledge in one of his several interactions in recent time that he would lift the giant African Nations Cup for Nigeria.
Thus, as the competition is reaching its climax in neighbouring West African state of Ivory Coast it seems his promise is looking brighter as this is what teeming soccer loving Nigerians have stood akimbo looking to see as sincerely speaking, it is no longer a story that countrymen and women are highly thirsty of the cup.
But from all indication the Super Eagles are as good as returning the trophy home if their performance at the tournament is anything to go by in view of how the team is improving match after match.
Just yesterday the team dashed the hope of Angolan National Team popularly called Palancas Negras to move to the last four of the event by alone goal.
The goal which came through the legs of Ademola Lukman in the first half awaken the Portuguese from slumber aimed at even the scores but to no avail in view of the good defensive work of the Eagles defence and good goalkeeping of goal tender Stanley Nwabule.
While the Angolans tried to draw the level, on the other hand, the Eagles made frantic moves to increase the tally it was in such effort that Victor Osimhen netted the second goal which was disallowed by VAR for offside.
The Eagles will now await the winner between South Africa and Cape Verde for the semi final encounter.
In the second match played yesterday Congo thrashed Guinea by three goals to one to keep a date with either host Ivory Coast or Mali.
The tourney is billed to wrap up on the eleven of this month in Abidjan the Ivorian capital.
But for one thing, as almost all the teams that would show much resistance to the Super Eagles have since been eliminated it seems the road is being cleared for the Eagles to lift the trophy despite the fact that soccer is not Arithmetic.
The next edition in 2025 will hold in Morocco.
