The Kano State Government has lauded the Nigerian Navy for its steady investment in training and building the capacity of its personnel.
Deputy Governor Hon Murtala Sule Garo conveyed the commendation on Thursday at the Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Dawakin Tofa, while representing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at a combined graduation ceremony.
The event marked the graduation of officers and ratings from five courses: Logistics Officers’ Basic Course 37, Petty Officers’ Qualifying Course 48, Leading Seamen Qualifying Course 48, Basic Qualifying Course 56, and Basic Logistics Qualifying Course 4.
Addressing the graduates, the Deputy Governor described the ceremony as more than a routine exercise. “This is a milestone in your professional journey,” he said. “Modern naval operations go beyond ships and equipment. They rest on logistics, strategy, and leadership.”
He urged them to carry the values of honor, discipline, loyalty, and selfless service into their future assignments. “The skills you’ve acquired here will define how you respond when it matters most,” he added.
Governor Yusuf, through his deputy, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to partnering with security agencies to strengthen peace and stability across Kano.
Earlier, the College Commandant, Commodore A.A. Madawaki, said the graduation reflected the institution’s growing impact since its establishment in Dawakin Tofa. He noted that the training combined technical instruction with disciplined military practice to prepare officers and ratings for the evolving demands of naval logistics.
“You now carry a responsibility,” Madawaki told the graduands. “Use the knowledge and values instilled in you to lead with integrity and professionalism.”
Later in the day, the Deputy Governor also inspected ongoing projects executed by the Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government, Hon. Mukhtar Bala, across several communities in the area.
