The Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to listening to the advice, demands and concerns of citizens across the state’s three senatorial districts.
The Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, stated this on Monday while receiving members of the Muryar Kano ta Kudu (Voice of Kano South Forum) at his office.
Garo who spoke on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf commended the forum for its visit and stressed the importance of peace, unity and harmony among communities.
“No community can prosper in isolation. Forums such as this, which promote unity, can ultimately contribute to the economic growth of the region, the state and the nation at large,” he said.
The deputy governor urged members of the forum to sustain their efforts, describing the initiative as commendable, particularly for recognising the developmental strides of the state government in Kano South.
He also acknowledged the contributions of notable personalities from the area to the development of Kano South and the state, including Senator Suleman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, Rt. Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, Rt. Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa and Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Sani Rogo, among others.
Garo also appreciated traditional and religious leaders, as well as members of the business community in Kano South, for their continued support for the Yusuf administration.
He assured the delegation that more developmental projects would be executed across the district, while consultations and deliberations would continue to promote the overall development of Kano State.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Barrister Sabi’u Abdullahi Usman Babiri, said the forum, which comprises representatives from the 16 local government areas of Kano South, was at the deputy governor’s office to appreciate the Yusuf administration for various infrastructure projects executed in the region.
He listed some of the projects as the construction of the Dan-Soshiya Dam in Kiru Local Government Area, establishment of Gaya Polytechnic and the relocation of Rano Polytechnic to Sumaila Local Government Area, including the provision of a permanent site for the institution.
Babiri also cited plans to convert Rano General Hospital to the Rano Federal Medical Centre, among other interventions.
The forum, however, appealed to the state government to rehabilitate a major road linking several local government areas in Kano South.
Members of the forum pledged their continued support for the administration of Governor Yusuf across the 16 local government areas of the district.
