The Kano State Government has intensified efforts to address urban congestion and improve commercial infrastructure with plans to establish a modern market in Dangwauro.
As part of the initiative, the State Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Abduljabbar Mohammed Umar, held a high-level consultation with leaders of Yankaba Vegetable Market and Na’ibawa Yan Lemo Fruit Market.
The engagement, according to the government, is aimed at incorporating stakeholders’ input into the design and development of the proposed market, ensuring it meets the operational needs of traders while promoting orderliness and efficiency.
Officials said discussions centred on creating a conducive business environment, improving market organisation, and enhancing ease of access and operations for users.
Leaders of the affected markets commended the government’s inclusive approach, expressing support for the project and pledging cooperation toward its successful implementation.
The planned development is part of the state government’s broader strategy to promote sustainable urban growth, boost economic activities, and improve the livelihoods of traders.
