It is truth that must be told that Kano Pillars since their days at Pillars Stadium Sabongari usually found it pretty hard to win two home matches in a row.
But this time around things changed for good courtesy of the tutelage of Abdul Maikaba.
In the matches they played against fellow northern sides Kwara United and Plateau United which they all thrashed by two goals to one.
Coincidentally it was the visiting teams that opened scoring in all the two engagements but Sai Masu Gida as Pillars were fondly called equalized and later increased the tally to cart home with the maximum points.
Something surprising in the ties was how all the winning goal were netted barely at the end of the games For instance in the match against Kwara United formerly KWASU Bombers before they metamorphosed to their present name they were almost happy that they have pulled a draw before Mustapha Yuga scored the winner.
Something of same nature reoccurred yesterday as the winning goal came exactly when the linesman was about to raise added minutes.
Pillars supposed to have won the tie in the early minutes of the game but squandered many scoring chances as their strikers were not clinical at goal mouth hence the visiting team took the advantage and got the curtain raiser which they defended firmly up to the end of the first half.
While on resumption of play the tin City side formerly called JIB Rocks before they taken over by Plateau State hence renamed Plateau United being coached by Tactician among them former internationals Patrick Mancha and Sani Adamu resorted to defending game which failed to produce the needed dividend as the home side capitalized on the blunder and even scores through a goal mouth melee and later increased the tally through their strongman Abdullahi popularly called Dan Tayo
Winning the game surely and steadily boosted the team’s hope of earning a continental ticket next year if not winning the coveted trophy which they last lifted during the reign of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Thus as the pyramid City side is billed to leave for Makurdi the Benue State Capital to engage home side Lobi Stars it is the fervent hope of ardent supporters of the club that they would not be in the sister northern state for site seeing but real business as this became imperative in view of their battered away record.
