The Katsina State Government has initiated moves to partner with the Kano State Ministry of Culture and Tourism to strengthen its efforts at promoting cultural heritage and tourism development.
A delegation from Katsina visited the Kano ministry to understudy its operations and acquire knowledge that would support the establishment of the state’s newly created Culture and Reorientation Agency.
The Special Adviser to the Katsina State Governor on Culture and Reorientation, Alhaji Isah Muhammad Musa, disclosed this during the delegation’s visit to the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hajiya Aisha Lawan Saji Rano, in Kano.
He said Kano was chosen because of its rich historical and cultural heritage, which has been preserved over the centuries.
“This visit is not only symbolic but strategic. It provides an opportunity to strengthen institutional relationships, share experiences and foster collaboration in the areas of cultural reorientation, preservation and development,” he said.
Musa described Kano as a state with a vibrant cultural heritage and a model in the preservation and promotion of culture, both within Nigeria and beyond.
He also commended Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for his commitment to preserving Katsina’s cultural heritage through the creation of the Culture and Reorientation Agency, pledging to work towards building a vibrant institution.
Responding, the Kano State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hajiya Aisha Lawan Saji Rano, highlighted the achievements recorded by the ministry under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in promoting tourism and preserving cultural heritage.
She said the state government had continued to support initiatives aimed at reviving cultural values while introducing innovations to enhance the tourism sector.
Rano reaffirmed Kano State’s readiness to collaborate with other states seeking partnerships in culture and tourism for national development.
She commended the Katsina delegation for choosing Kano as a reference point and assured them of the ministry’s support in achieving their objectives.
