The Kano State Government has donated a 32-seater Toyota Coaster bus to the School of Health Technology (SOHT), Bebeji, to enhance transportation and support academic activities in the institution.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Transport Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, Malam Usman Isha Ibrahim, who represented the Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, said the vehicle was provided to address transportation challenges facing staff and students, particularly during practical training and other academic engagements.
He urged the management of the institution to ensure the bus is used strictly for official purposes and maintained properly to guarantee its longevity.
“The government has provided this vehicle to support teaching and learning activities and facilitate the movement of lecturers and students. We therefore appeal to the school management to make proper use of it and ensure adequate maintenance,” he said.
Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the school, the Provost of Kano State College of Science and Technology, Malam Balarabe Ismail, expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for what he described as a timely intervention.
He also commended the Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, for facilitating the donation of the vehicle to the institution.
According to him, the location of the school outside Kano metropolis has often posed transportation difficulties for lecturers and other staff members, adding that the bus would significantly improve mobility and enhance service delivery.
Malam Balarabe assured the state government that the vehicle would be used judiciously and in line with the purpose for which it was donated.
He further praised Governor Yusuf for his continued investment in the health sector and other critical areas, noting that the administration’s interventions were having a positive impact across the state.
