In a mark of honour, dignity and esteem Kwara State Government has given members of members of Kwara United handsome reward for lifting this year’s President Federation Cup
The team from North Central State grabbed the Cup after thrashing their opponents Abakaliki United from Umuahia in Abia State by four goals to three in penalty shootout after a winner failed to emerge at the end of ninety minutes regulation time
Each player of the winning team went home with a cash gift of five million Naira Cash as well as a plot of land
for making the state proud
This was the first time a cub side from the Harmony State as Kwara was nicknamed performed wonders in any major organised soccer event countrywide since
when a team called Alyufsalam Rocks in the seventies took football enthusiasts by storm as it came closer to winning the event when the trophy was known as Challenge Cup but failed narrowly towards the tail end of the competition
Thus , with the development the team fondly called Afonja Warriors will be part of Nigeria’s representatives in the upcoming CAF clubs continental engagements for 2025/26 season
