Chairman of Sumaila Local Government Council Alhaji Faruq Sumaila says protecting the rights and images of his people remains his watchwords
Alhaji Faruq Sumaila was speaking while receiving fifty nine kids of the area repatriated from Abuja courtesy of Social Development Secretariat Squad
He Adulated the Minister of the Federal Capital Mr Nyesom Wike for initiating the scheme which he said will thoroughly put lazy parents and irresponsible leaders on their toes
He pointed out that time has gone when parents should bastardized their children as according to him they are burden kept in their custody which they would give an account on how they were treated if not here on earth in the heaven
The Chairman who lamented the upsurge in Child Abuse across the society enjoined parents to cultivate the fear of God in their minds and be self contented as according to him children are divine gift
He explained that at the local level they would continue to emulate the giant strides of Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf aimed at boosting the socio economic wellbeings of his people
Alhaji Faruq Sumaila added that the repartees together with their Qur’anic teacher will be given a token amount while reaching home to take care of themselves adding that his council will remain watchful so as to curtail recurrence
While speaking, District Head of the Chiefdom Danruwatan Kano Alhaji Ibrahim Ado Bayero, stressed that it is high time measures should be taken to combat scavenging among youths in view of its negativity on the upcoming generations
He posited that nevertheless in their role as community leaders,they would not rest in their oars towards rendering advice where necessary to the wider majority with a view to inculcating good moralities aimed at ensuring a well oriented environment
He however thanked both the state and local authorities for their utmost concern in that direction hoping they would keep the flag flying
Earlier,the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Women Affairs and disabled children Alhaji Muntaka Yakasai, who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner,averred present administration’s readiness in ensuring proper mentoring
of the younger ones so as to become responsible and respectful adults which the society will be proud of.
The fifty nine kids all from Kula hamlet of Sumaila Local Government Area where said to be taken to Abuja in search of Qur’anic knowledge but later resorted to roaming about the streets of the city looking for alms and menial jobs hence fell into the hands of Social Development Secretariat Squad set up by Minister of the Federal Capital to checkmate the influx of destitute and beggars into the City
